Agreement
By using Converter-Hex you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may update them from time to time; the version on this page is the one in force, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised version.
Permission to use the site
The converters, calculators, tables and guides here are free to use for personal, educational and commercial purposes. No account is required, there is no usage limit, and you do not need our permission to use a result in your own work.
You may link to any page freely. You may quote a short passage with attribution and a link.
Accuracy, and the limits of it
The conversions are implemented with exact integer arithmetic and are tested, and the reference tables are generated programmatically rather than typed. We take accuracy seriously and correct reported errors quickly.
Even so, everything here is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Where a mistake would be costly — financial systems, safety-critical firmware, medical or legal contexts, cryptographic work — verify results independently before relying on them. Availability
We aim to keep the site online, current and fast, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Pages, tools and features may be changed, moved or withdrawn at any time without notice, and the site may be unavailable during maintenance or because of problems at our hosting provider.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to disrupt, overload or damage the site or the servers it runs on;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its infrastructure;
- run automated processes that place an unreasonable load on our hosting;
- use the site in breach of any applicable law, or to facilitate anything unlawful;
- reproduce the site's content wholesale, or present it as your own.
The tools are entirely client-side, so anything you need at volume can be run locally rather than against our hosting. That is the preferred route and we would rather you took it than scraped.
Intellectual property
The text, layout, design, stylesheet and conversion code on this site are original work and are protected by copyright. Copying pages, or republishing the content as your own, is not permitted.
The mathematics of number bases is, of course, nobody's property. Nothing here restricts your use of the underlying methods, results or reference values — only the particular expression of them on this site.
The web fonts used are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and their licences ship with the site. Trade marks and product names mentioned in the guides belong to their respective owners.
Links to other sites
Where we link to other websites, we do so because we think they are useful. We have no control over them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Converter-Hex and anyone involved in producing it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its output. That includes indirect and consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data and business interruption, whether or not the possibility of such loss was foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is established, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you use the site as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules in your own country of residence.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
